IFEMA and POMONA KEEPERS have reached an agreement in order to co-organize the World Olive Oil Exhibition
IFEMA’s collaboration in this project confirms the importance of the WOOE within the Spanish food industry. The WOOE is the world’s only fair entirely devoted to olive oil.
Madrid, 8 of January 2020. The support of IFEMA to the Spanish food industry has once again been established via the collaboration agreement that was signed this morning with the company Pomona Keepers in order to co-organize the World Olive Oil Exhibition, the only fair devoted to olive oil worldwide.
The support by IFEMA towards this event not only represents an important boost for the impact and outreach of this fair, but it also highlights the interest in encouraging olive oil. Let’s not forget it is a product of which Spain is the largest global producer and one of the most important countries on an economic scale; i.e. we can note that, depending on the years, Spain produces between 30 and 50% of the global production, way ahead of countries such as Italy, Greece, Tunisia or Turkey.
Accordingly, for Pomona Keepers, owner of the WOOE, the participation of IFEMA in this major event, in which IFEMA will apply all its know-how and expertise to the organization, will drive this key exhibition as part of the food industry both nationally and internationally, since it has the presence of olive oil producers from across the world.
Globalcaja would also like to promote the importance of the olive oil sector in Spain and since its beginnings the said financial organization is a partner of Pomona Keepers in the WOOE, therefore supporting the food sector. Similarly, Enopassion —a company that owns 60% of Pomona Keepers and is in charge of event organization devoted to the wine sector, such as Enofusion— collaborates and encourages the WOOE.
The agreement has been signed by Otilia Romero de Condés, president of Pomona Keepers and Eduardo López-Puertas, director general of IFEMA. “The fact that Ifema has decided to participate alongside Pomona Keepers in the organization of the WOOE represents the definitive consolidation of a fair that has exponentially grew every year and that, for some time now, has reached its full international potential”, noted Otilia Romero de Condés. And she added: “Through this alliance we believe both the array of international participation and the drive for the Spanish olive oil sector are expanded”.
IFEMA carries out leading fairs for the food and agriculture industries such as Fruit Attraction, one of the most important events for fruits and vegetables worldwide; Meat Attraction, a huge fair devoted to the Spanish meat industry, as well as Intersicop for the baking industry; or Vendibérica; or Eat2Go and EcoFood, both focused on organic food production. This is a broad portfolio to which now the WOOE is added. In Eduardo López-Puertas terms, this new alliance “represents an opportunity for IFEMA to widen the agricultural and food industries’ framework, in which we are increasingly gaining importance on an international scale, thanks to one of our most emblematic Spanish products: olive oil. IFEMA will provide its know-how and expertise into the organization and development of what is already the leading monographic fair devoted to the olive oil sector in the entire world”
The 9th World Olive Oil Exhibition will be held in Madrid on the 18th and 19th of March in IFEMA’s pavilion 14. A two-day event in which the world’s largest olive oil producers will gather.
