According to the data issued by the AICA (Agency of Food Control and Information from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture), the sector’s exports reached 795.800 tonnes.
The World Olive Oil Exhibition, the biggest fair exclusively devoted to the international olive oil trade, is preparing its 4th edition for the coming 12th and 13th of March 2015.
During this year’s harvest, the Spanish olive oil exports increased by 42% compared to the average of the last four years, reaching 795.800 tonnes. This means an increase of 83% compared to last year’s harvest, according to the data issued by the AICA (Agency of Food Control and Information).
The monthly export average reaches 88.420 tonnes of olive oil, while total imports represent 35.100 tonnes. Last year’s Spanish production reached 1.774.100 tonnes, 187% more than the previous one and 41% more than the average over the last four years.
General commercialization (domestic markets plus exportations) has risen by 52% compared to last year’s harvest, reaching 1.229.100 tonnes.
It is estimated that the stock represents 880.000 tonnes, 9% more than the average of the last four harvest years, of which 679.000 tonnes are held by olive oil mills.
This data is important not only for the entire sector, but also for the organizers of the World Olive Oil Exhibition, the biggest Spanish trade fair exclusively devoted to the olive oil sector, whose primary aim is to internationalize and create business opportunities for olive oil.
The 4th WOOE will be held on the coming 12th and 13th of March 2014 with the objective of increasing the number of professional visitors from all over the world. During the past WOOE, more than 37 countries participated with their olive oil importing companies.
To increase international transactions for their products, this event is also paramount to the one hundred or so companies that participated in the 2014 WOOE, which were mainly olive oil producers, but also business agents, suppliers for the olive oil sector, and specialized media.
The World Olive Oil Exhibition will keep on working for and supporting all the trade categories, whether they are commercialized as packaged or bulk products.
