With an increase of 30% in the number of professional visitors and the participation of more than 120 oil mills and olive oil cooperatives and companies, the WOOE has been –during these two intense days– the framework for serious business transactions within the sector.

The 5th WOOE attracted visitors, from 53 different countries, who had the opportunity of tasting more than 500 different types of olive oil from diverse Spanish regions, as well as other countries such as Tunisia, Greece, Uruguay, Australia and South Africa.

 

The World Olive Oil Exhibition ended its 5th edition with an increase of 30% in the number of visitors compared to last year, and the satisfaction of having helped to provide a business boost to the 120 participating oil mills and olive oil cooperatives and companies.

A wide variety of olive oil companies participated in this trade fair. Some of them confirming an increase in the amount of business contacts that they have established with international purchasers, compared to past years and to other fairs within the sector.

One of the WOOE´s most significant areas is the Oil Bar, a space for professionals to independently taste olive oil, where this year more than 20.000 tastings of various participating olive oils took place.

Organic virgin olive oils attract a growing interest, especially towards international markets. An emphasis that must be studied for the following WOOE edition, in order to create an area devoted to this category.

As an exhibition focused on business and on the sector’s professionals, two of the most crowded areas over these two days were the tasting sessions and the conferences. More than a thousand people attended these decisive talks for the sector’s future, such as the ones given by Leandro Ravetti (Australia) or Aris Kefalogiannis (Greece).

Others, such as the cheese, cocktails and Arbequina&Co experience conducted by the Castillo de Canena designation of origin was one of the most demanded, with no seats left.

The 5th WOOE also showed –and confirmed– a rising trend within international markets, which are increasingly opting for extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), the highest quality standard, as it is a natural juice extracted from olives which has an impeccable taste and aroma.

The WOOE is firmly committed to this product, which is also highly sought-after by a large number of international purchasers who, this year, came from 53 different countries.

The WOOE is a tool in the service of the olive oil international market, with the aim to aid the sector boost its visibility, the amount of business transactions and its profitability. Due to the increase in the number of attendees each year, the fair’s internationalization is also one of the organizers’ main goals and one of the aspects on which we are focused on.
