The World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE), a driving force for competitiveness
The 9th World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE) is preparing an ambitious plan for internationalization that involves the increase of buyers, particularly foreigners, in order to boost international trade in a year in which production has risen, specifically due to the rise in the Spanish harvest; and a year in which the consumption has slightly dropped, mainly in the traditional producing countries. The 9th WOOE will be held in Pavilion 1 at Madrid’s IFEMA on the 18th and 19th of March 2020.
The next WOOE comes at a time in which Spain is strengthening its world leadership with the challenge of opening new markets and regaining part of the ground lost in the Italian, Greek, French and its own Spanish markets, as well as in the United States market, which has seen a slowdown in its annual growth. There is also the challenge of conquering new markets among the non-producing countries and the new producing countries, both segments in which consumption grows.
The 8th WOOE, which was held on the 27th and 28th of March this year, had the participation of 760 producing companies, purchasers from 40 different countries, exhibitors from a few dozen producing countries and delegates from 10 out of the 13 producing Spanish regions, which cover almost 98% of the overall harvest.
