The vinegar sector will play a key role in the WOOE, which is taking place on the the 2nd and 3rd of March in IFEMA (Madrid), thanks to an agreement which has just been signed by the organizers of the fair and the AEVIN (Spanish Vinegar Association).
Taking into account that one of the main targets of the World Olive Oil Exhibition is to encourage business, by way of increasing commercial activity with this product and promoting its international trade, it was just a question of time before vinegar came to occupy a position of relevance in this trade fair. Indeed, most of the professionals attending the event work in both fields.
This agreement is yet another step forward for this international gathering, which is now nearing its fifth edition and keeping up a steady growth rate, being committed as it is –and has been year after year– to quality and international trade.
According to Vanesa Calvo Ruiz-Valdepeñas, general secretary at AEVIN, this agreement also reflects a significant progress for the vinegar sector: “In many cases, we are talking about a gourmet product which is used together with olive oil and, for the first time in Spain, they will go hand in hand to a specialized fair”.
The vinegar sector is going through a good moment, with a substantial growth in trade, as can be seen in the official figures: vinegar exports according to July’s inter-annual report for 2015 by the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OEMV). have increased up to 28% and gone from almost 35 million liters to more than 44. This means an increase in value from 26 million Euros to 30 million Euros.
The 5th World Olive Oil Exhibition will be celebrated on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2016, with an ever-growing participation of oil mills from olive oil producing countries, as well as buyers from all over the world.
